Pocono Manor Golf Course

The closest course is Pocono Manor which puts you just about 1 mile from the clubhouse when you stay here. I've been fortunate enough to play this course numerous times and consider it one of my favorites, Although. truth be known, we have a lot of really picturesque courses nearby and I haven't found one that I didn't enjoy.

My understanding is that this course was built in the early 1900's  and was a private course for a long time. (To keep duffers like me out no doubt)

This course has had some notable talent over the years such as Art Wall Jr., Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead, and a host of others and has hosted some impressive tournaments back in the day. If you're spending the day golfing in the area, make this your first course of the day and you won't want to leave. Logistically though, get up early & go play another course like Mount Airy or Shawnee, stop home for lunch if you like and enjoy the cooler temperatures up on the mountain here in the afternoon.

Anyway you choose to do it, you won't regret playing Pocono Manor and it shouldn't be missed.

Mount Airy Golf Club

I remember watching this course being built as my school bus drove by there every day. About 5 miles away, Mount Airy Golf course was built in the 1970's and opened in 1980. At the time marketed as "Mount Airy's 18 Best", the course was designed after Sports Illustrated “Best 18 holes in Golf”, each hole is modeled after golf’s most legendary holes from Championship course’s in America.

I've played the course multiple times and always found it to be a challenge yet thoroughly enjoyable. The course was closed for a few years and then opened after the construction of the casino and new clubhouse. I haven't played it since the new clubhouse was built but have heard nothing but good reviews from friends that have.

Jack Frost National

Built in 2007, this is one of the area courses that I've yet to play.  This relatively young pocono course is getting a lot of attention though.
